Macleay Island Foreshore Carpark – October 2018

It's been a long time coming. Due to other work commitments, downtime with my RPA (aka 'drone') and unsuitable weather, this is the first update to the carpark progress that I have done since May. The 'new' section has been open for quite a while, and the old section was closed to be reorganised and resurfaced. We now have a dedicated spot for the taxis, and also the buses, as well as expanded parking for disabled people, and a large amount of boat/trailer parking. Here it is. The October 2018 update of the Macleay Island Foreshore Carpark progress. What do you think of the new layout? Leave a comment below.

Internet Radio for the SMBI

In 2016, we started a project. We wanted to bring Internet Radio to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Unfortunately, life and other commitments got in the way, and Bay Islands Radio was put on the back-burner. Recently, we were given the chance to resurrect the project, to help the Friendly Bay Islander realise their dream of a radio station. With 10 years experience in Internet Radio, we started work on a platform that can be shared by many radio stations around the world, enabling them to reach larger audiences. The end result, is Bay Islands Radio and RadioFBI, both running on a software platform that was designed and developed on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Not only that, the Android and iPhone apps that can be used to tune in, are also made here. You can get the Bay Islands Radio app in the Google Play Store, with the iPhone version still in development, due to be released in the near future. Also, users of our Bay Islands Guide app now also have o…

Bay Islands Guide v5.0 for Android

Here at Bay Islands Info, we pay attention to what our Bay Islands Guide users say. We've been reading your app reviews and comments, and have implemented a few new features we think you're going to love. As well as reading your app reviews and comments, we've taken notice of what islanders ask for most frequently on Facebook. New features for the 'Ferry Planner': Completely redesigned, easier to read 'ferry results' screen - now with a route map! You can now see what time you will arrive at each stop - great if you're meeting someone on another island on the way to the mainland. A 'previous ferry' option is now available - a much requested feature. The ability to call a taxi - if your destination island has a taxi service, we've made it simple to call them to make a booking. Real-time ferry data - Still in BETA, but will soon be able to show you the ferry you are planning to catch is running on time or not. New features for the 'Business Directory': …

Macleay Island Foreshore Carpark – May 2018

Unfortunately, due to other work commitments, there was no update on the status of the carpark progress from April 2018. But here is the latest update, taken on the 10th May 2018. There has been a lot of work happening, including the laying of the slabs for the new boat ramp, and what appears to be small retaining walls towards the back of the carpark, possibly for gardens? There are also some traffic islands now also, although they may not be in their final positions. So here it is, the May 2018 update of the Macleay Island Foreshore Carpark progress.

A note about fares

The fare increase On Monday 22 January 2018, fares will increase on TransLink services across Queensland. In South East Queensland, adult and concession fares will increase by 1.5%, in line with the applicable Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate. This means (for the average adult islander using a go card) that a peak time trip to the mainland will now cost $6.05, up from the previous price of $5.96. So that's a $0.09 price increase. For those workers who leave the islands in the morning, and return later in the evening, therefore using off-peak services, have a price increase of $0.07, now costing $4.84 vs the previous $4.77. Here is the new pricing for adults and concession holders: Now, for a little bit of history When the current Go-Card system was introduced on July 1 2013, it marked a decrease in ferry fares, over the previous system. Not only was it more convenient to use a Go-Card, it was actually cheaper too. Then following on in November 2014, Queenslanders…

Macleay Island Foreshore Carpark – January 2018

2018 appears to be off to a good start, with lots of activity happening at the Macleay Island Foreshore Carpark. There seems to be some sort of staircase built, and a whole heap of gravel brought over. It will be interesting to see how things progress throughout the rest of the month, and into February. Disclaimer: This isn't the best panorama I've taken. I had camera issues, so this one is made of up 14 photographs, instead of the usual 18 photographs. Here are some more still images of the progress.
