An update on BIG

Thank you. Thanks to several donations we've been able to dedicate some more time and resources to ensuring that Bay Islands Guide can continue to be the fantastic little app that it has always been. It's because of you, the users, that BIG was able to 'refreshed' or 'upgraded' into what it is now. I will go into some details below, for those who are interested. If you don't care/understand how it all works, and what has changed, that's fine too. For those who have donated to help BIG live on, thank you. For those who haven't yet, you can do so here. Carols by glowstick on Russell Island

On Tuesday the 6th of December, the Russell Island State School P&C Association have organised 'Carols by Glowstick' to be held in the undercover area between 6pm and 7:30pm. There will be a sausage sizzle, family activities, and music. Money raised from the night will be put towards projects that the P&C is involved with, including the air-conditioning fund, aiming to have all classrooms air-conditioned as soon as possible. So come on down, bring the kids, have something to eat, and help the school at the same time!

Fundraising effort for Soi Dog shelter for rescued dogs

A local Russell Island resident, Melissa Warne has started a fundraising campaign to raise money and awareness for a shelter for rescued dogs. The goal is to raise $500 to erect a 'sala' shelter in Buriram, Northern Thailand. Every year, tens of thousands of dogs are rescued in the region, saved from being butchered by cruel and barbaric methods for the dog meat trade. (more…)
